Here's something neat -- a fluorescent surfacing material for bike paths, which absorbs sunlight during the day and glows softly at night, to make it easier to navigate. I'd have a lot of questions about how it works (how long the glow lasts, how durable the material is, etc.) but the idea seems marvelous.
